Convener's Corner — November 2016

Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

With the holiday season fast approaching, I find it easy to overlook people or events during what can be a hectic time. What I have to do is stop and take a step back to gather my thoughts and regroup as the days become busier. Maybe you can relate?

As the North District recently completed a set of weekends, I was reminded of some significant points that are a core part of Via de Cristo. These points are fresh for recent weekenders, but for team members, we may simply go through the weekend and not give them any thought.

This time of year can be stressful for everyone, yet it should be a time to celebrate and bring joy to all. So ask yourself, how is your family doing - spouse, kids, relatives, friends? Stop and have a sincere and caring conversation with your family and friends. We tend to take much for granted, but we may not know what a difference we can make in someone's day. Also think about yourself and how you are holding up. Do you feel stressed, overwhelmed or burned out?

If we center our lives around God, continue in our Bible study and Renewal groups, we know that God is always with us. Often we try to make everything work on our own. We need to be reminded that God is always there for us; we need to put our troubles in His hands and ask for direction in our lives. He knows what is best for us and will guide us.

So keep Piety, Study and Action in mind. If we keep God at the center of our lives and trust in Him, He will give us the words and actions we need to interact with those around us every day.

God loves you and so do I,

Scott Erickson
